It ends up the answer to “Should I tie my shoes before getting on the escalator?” is… HELL YES.
It’s not even close to funny. People, especially children, have been seriously hurt because things like shoe laces, flip flops, or sandals are caught in the escalator. The soft part gets caught and because the foot is exposed skin is often torn, even toes have had to be amputated because of these accidents. It is definitely no laughing matter.
I had this happen. It’s either a strong shoe-lace that gets trapped and pulls in the rest of the shoe via a corner shoe part or small shoe part, or a flexible part of your rubber shoe-sole that gets caught and further pulls in the whole shoe. Very scary! You really need someone to push the stop button… and don’t you believe you’re able to unstrap or get out of your shoe in the few seconds it only takes. I had to wait till the technical people came to get me out of my shoe! Took them about 5′ to get to me here at the Brussels metro.
That’s a man’s shoe, which means even adults are susceptible…
I don’t know if this is funny or scary… now I don’t want my 4 year old anywhere near the escalator.
lol i don’t want any kids around that crazy uni bomber beard of yours…might swallow them up whole, shoelaces and all…
Seth Forbis Get some sun… Q-tip!
lol unfortunately i live in Minnesota…the sun doesn’t really get up here much…
By the way, the Uni-bomer wore a hoodie and sunglasses… Whats the comparison? You look familiar, did you go to school in Phoenix?
lol i kid, my brother has a crazy beard too, and trust me, he gets it a LOT worse, today he was wearing a shirt that said “my beard just grew a beard”, he got a few Gandolf jokes for that…and no i didn’t go to school in phoenix, born in Scottsdale, went to school in Chandler.
