Imagine you sell cars and, yes, the car you have for sell is still on the sales lot. but the pirate owns the car all the same. Why would you be angry? The car is still there.
Because if everybody pirated then nobody would buy so that car that is sitting on the lot will NEVER sell. Intellectual property is complicated and the current law around it isn’t perfect…but it’s still stealing if you pirate.
True…if we lived in a world where everyone could easily have a car, it wouldn’t be worth much. I guess it’s just a matter of manipulating the market to keep control of things of value to keep our profit margin up. Because we don’t want people to have things. We want to profit.
My car? But, I thought they only made one?
Mike: Legally, if I buy a cd or dvd and then rip a copy to my hard drive, xbox, or smartphone, that’s piracy, therefore theft, and I can be prosecuted. So can you. I hope for your sake you’ve got deep enough pockets to purchase multiple copies for your platforms.
it only piracy if its copied by someone OTHER THAN THE ORIGINAL PERSON that buys the dvd, cd, mp3, or what ever! If i buy it i can put it on what ever device i want!!!
Yeeeeaaaah, cuz DRM, ya know, allows that.
its theft.
