My mom used to joke about this when I was a kid.
Your mom was HOT on the X-Files.
different first name
The joke doesn’t work in the scandinavian languages where the name probably comes from. As you probably know it is Swedish and means “son of Anders” :)
My oldest known ancestor on my father’s side was Andre Johnson. His son Aron’s name was changed by US immigration sometime in the 1800′s. YOU’RE NOT MY FATHER!
Hmm, actually the Swedish version is ‘Andersson’ so it may be derived from Danish/Norwegian ‘Andersen’ too – a very common last name here in Denmark :)
Ok, actually I find it interesting that the US immigration used that naming tradition/mechanism. I think they stopped using it in Scandinavia before the 1800′s, but I’m not sure.
‘Andre’ is of course a twisted version of ‘Anders’ which is the most correct form of the greek term ‘Andros’ :P
Andre, Anders, Andres, Andreas, Andy, Andrezj, Andrey…all derived from the Apostle Saint Andrew, brother of Saint Peter, in the New Testament.
good way to bring down a joke
